THE CUBAN JAZZ REPORT at Jazzhus Montmartre

The Danish-based congas player Eliel Lazo invented the concept “Cuban Nights” in 2014 with the purpose of presenting new and authentic Cuban music on the international jazz scene. Lazo has yet again assembled the original ‘dream-team’ consisting of Javier “Caramelo de Cuba” Masso, Yasser Pino and Paul Pineda.

We can only look forward to Cuban Jazz Report – Afro-Cuban music in a contemporary, modern form. In a mix of Afro-Cuban clave-based rhythmics, jazz harmonies and improvisations the group takes the listener on a fascinating journey through musical forms and genres as bolero, baiao, latin and bebop. Expect music, that goes beyond the usual commercial clichés of Latin jazz, presenting euphoric, refreshing and honest Cuban tones and arrangements....

Den dansk-bosatte perkussionist Eliel Lazo opfandt i 2014 konceptet ”Cuban Nights”, hvor formålet var at præsentere ny og autentisk cubansk musik på den internationale jazzscene. Nu har Lazo atter samlet det originale ’dream-team’ bestående af Javier ”Caramelo de Cuba” Masso, Yasser Pino og Paul Pineda.

Vi kan glæde os til at opleve Cuban Jazz Report – afro-cubansk musik i en nutidig, moderne form. I et mix af afro-cubanske claves-baserede rytmer, jazzharmonier og improvisationer tager gruppen lytteren med på en fascinerende rejse gennem musikalske former og genrer som bolero, baiao, latin og bebop. Se frem til musik, der går ud over latinjazzens sædvanlige kommercielle klichéer og præsenterer euforiske, forfriskende samt ærlige cubanske toner og arrangementer.
