From September 10th until October 24th, 2020, The Knight of Jazz will embark on his first national tour of Denmark in over a decade. “NIELS LAN DOKY 20/20” will visit 16 different cities across the country with his Danish trio - which, since 2011, has yielded significant international acclaim, not least in countries like Japan, South Korea, Spain and the U.K.. Their 2014 album entitled “Scandinavian Standards” was even released in the USA by Warner Music. The trio’s career has reached new heights during 2019, in part due to the international release of their album “Improvisation On Life” which was initially released in Asia in 2017 but only in the rest of the world this past Summer. A culmination occurred at this year’s San Javier Jazz Festival in Spain where the trio’s concert yielded standing ovations and an unprecedented stream of major critical acclaim. The Spanish press wrote statements such as “Playing from the heart, raising the audience some centimeters above the ground”, “Music that penetrates you deep into the spirit,” “A recital full of beauty” and “Managed to leave the audience in love”....

Aside from himself, Niels Lan Doky’s trio comprises two Danish musicians who are a generation younger than their leader, and among the greatest new jazz talents to emerge out of Denmark in recent decades, bassist Tobias Dall and drummer Niclas Bardeleben. For many years, Niels Lan Doky has belonged to the international elite of jazz artists and he has released over 40 albums under his own name and won numerous awards, accolades, gold records and more - both in Europe, North America and Asia. He began his professional career already at the age of 13 and has since played with a majority of the greatest artist in jazz and performed for the world’s elite, including Pope John Paul II, Roger Moore, a.o.. On her 70th birthday in 2010, HM Queen Margrethe II of Denmark knighted Niels Lan Doky. Furthermore, he has given the TED Talk "How Jazz Wisdom Will Change Your Life" and released the book “Improvisation - in music, at work and in life” (Gyldendal). And his first feature film as a director, "Between a Smile and a Tear", was released in theatres in 2005 to great critical acclaim.


On November 8th, 2019, the trio will release their first Christmas Single “Let It Snow”, with jazz trumpet icon Randy Brecker as a guest - and already on November 15th, the trio will release their second Christmas Single “Silent Night”. Both are released worldwide on all streaming platforms and in a limited physical edition (CD) in the USA. In the beginning of 2020, we will also release new singles monthly, taken from our new album. And in April, just before the start of the Danish tour, the actual album is released and will be entitled “River Of Time.”

Fra d. 10. september til 24. oktober drager The Knight Of Jazz, Niels Lan Doky, ud på sin første landsdækkende Danmarksturné i over 10 år. Turnéen ved navn “NIELS LAN DOKY 20/20” besøger 16 forskellige byer over hele landet med sin danske trio, som siden 2011 har høstet stor international anerkendelse, ikke mindst i lande som Japan, Sydkorea, Spanien og England, og deres album fra 2014 »Scandinavian Standards« blev sågar udgivet gennem Warner Music i USA. I løbet af 2019 nåede trioens karriere nye højder med bl.a. den internationale udgivelse af pladen »Improvisation On Life«, som siden 2017 kun har været tilgængelig i Asien og så sent som i sommer i resten af verden. Trioens foreløbige kulmination skete ved dette års San Javier Jazz Festival i Spanien, hvor trioens koncert gav stående ovationer og en hidtil uset strøm af anmelderroser. Den spanske presse skrev bl.a. “De spillede fra hjertet og hævede publikummet nogle centimeter fra jorden”, “Musik, der trænger dybt ind i sjælen”, “En koncert af ren skønhed” og “Formåede at efterlade publikum i en ren tilstand af forelskelse”.

Niels Lan Dokys faste trio, tæller udover ham selv to danske musikere, som er en generation yngre end kapelmesteren selv og er blandt de største nye danske jazztalenter fra dette årti, kontrabassist Tobias Dall og trommeslager Niclas Bardeleben. I flere årtier har Niels Lan Doky hørt til verdenseliten af jazzartister, og har udgivet over 40 albums i eget navn samt vundet adskillige priser, anerkendelser, guldplader m.v. i både Europa, USA, Canda og Asien. Allerede i en alder af 13 år begyndte han sin professionelle karriere og har siden spillet med et hav jazzens største koryfæer og har ydermere optrådt for verdens elite (Pave Johannes Paul II, Roger Moore, m.fl. Hendes Majestæt Dronning Margrethe II af Danmark slog på sin 70-års fødselsdag Niels Lan Doky til Ridder af Dannebrog. Han har endvidere givet en TEDx Talk’en »How Jazz Wisdom Will Change Your Life« samt udgivet bogen »Improvisation - i musik, på arbejde og i livet« (Gyldendal), og hans første spillefilm som instruktør, “Between a Smile and a Tear”, havde biografpremiere i 2005 til stor ros fra anmeldere.

I november 2019 udgav trioen deres første to julesingler, »Let It Snow« med jazztrompetikonet Randy Brecker som gæst og »Silent Night«. I starten af 2020 udkom singlerne »Hope 2020« og den energiske »Are You Coming With Me?«, som er frontløbere for det længe ventede album med titlen »River Of Time« (udkommer april 2020).
