The 40 min cinematic album has been a long trip in itself for the 4 musicians who created this music through improvised maraton-concerts, curated as different challenges, from playing 9 hours straight with no breaks, to playing 4 times 1 hour in 1 day. Four musicians with very different backgrounds, ranging from popular music and hip hop to experimental freejazz, wanted to experience how this kind of physical and mental challenge influences creativity and music. Would they come closer to transcending, would they get a stronger connection between them, or would the challenges reveal things in themselves and their musical practice that they did not know before? An enormous amount of material has been listened to, selected, edited and produced, but with the dogma of no overdubs. This evening the band will share their experimental space with you and create music on the spot based on courage and curiosity....

ALICE præsenterer releasekoncert med Barefoot-aktuelle Maraton, der byder på nysgerrige improvisationer og filmiske soundscapes. Koncerten finder sted på Musikcafeen i Huset-KBH, og opvarmningen leveres af Mija Milovic.

Kom med på en meditativ rejse gennem ukendte landskaber fra den vilde regnskov til de islandske fjelde, når bandet Maratons fejrer deres debut-album, som udkommer på Barefoot Records d. 13. Maj.
Fire kreative musikere med forskellige baggrund har fundet frem til et fælles sprog gennem improviserede maraton-koncerter hvor de har været udfordrede på udholdenhed, fra at spille i 9 timer i træk, til at spille 4 koncerter af én times varighed på én dag. Af disse sessions er opstået et filmisk soundtrack på 40 minutter, som nu altså udmønter sig i en pladeudgivelse på Barefoot Records.
Musikerne har vidt forskellige baggrunde fra pop-musik og hip hop til free-jazz, men forenes i en kærlighed for intense musikalske øjeblikke og en stadig søgen og nysgerrighed efter at udfordre sig selv og hinanden. De ville gerne opleve hvordan denne slags fysiske og mentale udfordring ville påvirke deres kreativitet og musik. Ville de være tættere på at transcendere? Ville de opleve en stærkere forbindelse mellem dem som mennesker og musikere? Eller ville de opdage nye og ukendte ting i dem selv og i deres musikalske praksis?
En enorm mængde materiale er blevet lyttet til, udvalgt, redigeret og produceret, med dogmet ikke at dubbe. Denne aften vil bandet dele deres eksperimenterende rum og opdagelser med jer, og skabe musik i nuet baseret på mod og nysgerrighed.

Den dansk-montenegriske musiker Mija Milovic har været drivende kraft i en lang række københavnske bands som Kvindebandet, Tidlige Armbånd, DNTK, Viktors Garage, slim0 og under det solistiske alias Puck Mintie. Milovic gav en fantastisk koncert på sidste års ALICE Summer Series, og vi glæder os til at præsentere hende på Musikcafeen.
