The quartet Machina Mundi was established during the Corona crisis and has a local character. The band consists of professional artists who performed frequently before the closing - namely saxophonist Lubos Soukup, pianist William Larsson, bassist Graig Earle and drummer Daniel Johansson.
The musicians play rhythmic music with a lot of improvisation. The band has a modern sound, which is mainly created with fender rhodes, keyboards and electronics. They have spent a lot of time composing brand new music and working on interactions. New compositions are advanced with long forms and exciting development.
LUBOS SOUKUP (sax and clarinet)
Lubos Soukup is a professional saxophonist, clarinetist and composer who lives in Copenhagen. He graduated in Music Performance from RMC in 2013. He he has been a freelance musician since then. Lubos is a successful composer who has released 10 CDs with his own music. He writes compositions with the individual band members in mind so that each of them gets a chance to contribute to the music in the way that suits them best. His catchy melodies speak directly to the audience, but they are also sophisticated enough to engage music experts with their subtle references to old jazz legends such as Wayne Shorter, Thelonius Monk and to classical and folk music. In 2017, he received a Talent Award from DMF and Marilyn Mazur. Every year, Lubos plays many concerts both in Denmark and abroad.
WILLIAM LARSSON (fender rhodes, keyboards)
William Larsson grew up on the small island of Hönö in the skerries of Gothenburg in Sweden. As an 8-year-old, he began taking piano lessons. When he was 10 years old, he got his first drum kit, and six years later, the drums were replaced with jazz piano. William studied at Skurup in Sweden and at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory (RMC) in Copenhagen, where he has spent periods studying in Berlin and Amsterdam. William now lives in Copenhagen, where he plays with many different musicians. He has played with international names such as Lage Lund, John Hollenbeck, Gilad Hekselman.
GRAIG EARLE (double bass)
Graig Earle is a much sought after bassist on both sides of the Atlantic. Since coming to Denmark in 2004 to study at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory, he has been active as a composer and bassist in a wide range of musical contexts with both the younger generations and the jazz veterans. Together with the trio, "Rosendal.Earle.Templeton" he won the DMA "Jazz Record of the Year" award in 2008, and in 2007 he was both nominated for a Juno award (Canadian Grammy) for best jazz release with "The Richard Underhill Group" as bassist and arranger, and won a DMA-Jazz Award for "this year's Danish crossover jazz release" with Simon Toldam's "Prügelknabe". He has released CDs on Cope Records, Stunt / Sundance Records, Fresh Sound, Gateway and ILK Records in Denmark. He has toured and played concerts frequently in Canada, China, the United States and Denmark, as well as over 25 other countries in Europe, South and Central America and Asia. Graig appreciates Canadian-Danish collaboration, and has made 4 longer tours in Canada with Danish orchestras, and 5 in Denmark down Canadian musicians. Graig has for long periods studied Carnatic music in South India and has thereby acquired many aspects of this musical tradition. Graig has for the last couple of years been an active member of the Magnus Thuelund Trio, Marko Martinovic Quintet, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Niels Lan Doky Trio, New Music Orchestra, Nancy Harms Quartet, Marius Neset Quartet, Gilad Hekselman Quartet, Peter Jensen Sekstet, JazzNord Ensemble, et al. Graig has for long periods studied Carnatic music in South India and has thereby acquired many aspects of this musical tradition. DANIEL JOHANSSON (Drums)
Daniel originally comes from Ängelholm in Scania, but has lived in Copenhagen since 2008, when he started at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory, and graduated in 2013. For the past 20 years, Daniel has toured in the Nordics and around Europe. He has had the pleasure of working with musicians such as; Chris Minh Doky, Svante Thuresson, Malene Mortensen, Marius Neset, Oscar Grönberg, Anders Wimark, Live Foyn Friis, Jeppe Zeeberg and others.
Kvartetten Machina Mundi blev etableret under Corona-krisen og har en lokal karakter. Bandet består af professionelle kunstnere som optrådte ofte før nedlukningen — nemlig saxofonist Lubos Soukup, pianist William Larsson, bassist Graig Earle og trommeslager Daniel Johansson.
Musikerne spiller rytmisk musik med en masse af improvisation. Bandet har en modern lyd, som er hovedsageligt skabt med fender rhodes, keyboards og elektronik. De har brugt meget tid på at komponere helt ny musik og arbejdet på samspil. Nye kompositioner er avanceret med lange former og spændende udvikling.

I 2017 modtog han en Talentpris fra DMF og Marilyn Mazur. Hvert år spiller Lubos mange koncerter både i Danmark og i udland.

William Larsson voksede op på den lille ø Hönö i Göteborgs skær i Sverige. Som 8-årig begyndte han at tage klaverundervisning. Da han var 10 år gammel, fik han sit første trommesæt, og seks år senere, blev trommerne erstattet med jazz piano. William studerede på Skurup i Sverige og på Rytmisk musikkonservatorium (RMC) i København, hvor han har tilbragt perioder med studier i Berlin og Amsterdam. William er nu bosiddende i København, hvor han spiller med mange forskellige musikere. Han har spillet med internationale navne som Lage Lund, John Hollenbeck, Gilad Hekselman.

Graig Earle er en meget efterspurgt bassist på begge sider af Atlanten. Siden han kom til Danmark i 2004 for at studere på Det Rytmiske Musikkonservatorium har han været aktiv som komponist og bassist i en bred vifte af musikalske sammenhænge med både de yngre generationer og jazz veteranerne. Sammen med trioen, ”Rosendal.Earle.Templeton” vandt han DMA ”Årets Jazz Plade” pris i 2008, og i 2007 var han både nomineret for en Juno-award (Canadiske Grammy) for bedste jazzudgivelse med ”The Richard Underhill Group” som bassist og arrangør, og vandt en DMA-Jazz Award for ”årets danske crossover jazzudgivelse” med Simon Toldam’s ”Prügelknabe”. DANIEL JOHANSSON (Trommer)
Daniel kommer oprindeligt fra Ängelholm i Skåne, men har været bosat i København siden 2008, hvor han startede på Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium, og blev færdiguddannet i 2013. I de seneste 20 år har Daniel turnéret i Norden og rundt i Europa. Han har haft glæden ved at arbejde med musikere så som; Chris Minh Doky, Svante Thuresson, Malene Mortensen, Marius Neset, Oscar Grönberg, Anders Wimark, Live Foyn Friis, Jeppe Zeeberg m fl.
