The collective recently recorded their second album in New York and reunites yet again during Summer Jazz 2016. Brian Blade, who has played together with prominent artists the like of Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Herbie Hancock and Daniel Lanois, is this year’s Summer Jazz Giant. He will be performing a total of four concerts at Summer Jazz 2016.

SUPPORT: Pianist Jacob Karlzon is often placed in the same league as his fellow Swede Esbjørn Svensson and the great Keith Jarrett. Like Svensson and Jarrett, Karlzon is a true piano virtuoso. Since 1996 his music has been released on labels such as the influential ACT (Germany). In Karlzons works, genre divisions between jazz and electronica are investigated and transgressed in soundscapes that can be described as hot-tempered Scandinavian cool paired an explosive sense of creation. This evening, Karlzon’s art can be savoured in a simple set-up, where the purity of meditative piano music is the focal point.
