Oplev et af verdens mest anerkendte kvindelige kor inden for den bulgarske vokaltradition, når ALICE præsenterer Bulgarian Voices Angelite a capella i Christians Kirkes smukke rammer. Med hele 20 fremragende sangerinder under ledelse af Katya Barulova er der garanti for en gåsehudsfremkaldende oplevelse.
Har man først én gang oplevet Bulgariens rige tradition for kvindekor, er det svært at glemme. Det er en musik, som på én gang føles som noget fra en anden verden, og dog har rødder i en dyb folkelig muld.
De bulgarske kors unikke klang har inspireret talrige musikere, og op gennem 80’erne opstod der en stærk kult-begejstring for vokaltraditionen, som bl.a. Dead Can Dance og Kate Bush lod sig inspirere af. Dermed voksede også interessen for nogle af de fremtrædende bulgarske kor, der gennem længere tid havde forædlet de ældgamle teknikker.
I dag finder man talrige kor, som dyrker genren, og også internationalt kan man finde grupper, der arbejder videre med traditionen (bl.a. det danske kor Sedjanka). Skal man til kilden, er det dog især to kor, som repræsenterer den absolutte elite. Det ene er Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares, som for nylig kunne opleves med Dead Can Dance’s Lisa Gerrard i DR Koncerthuset, og så Bulgarian Voices Angelite, som ALICE nu har den store ære af at præsentere i overdådige rammer i Christians Kirke på Christianshavn!
Under kommunismen var mulighederne for at rejse ud med deres fantastiske musik stærkt begrænset, men siden har Bulgarian Voices Angelite skabt sig et ry som et ensemble, der hæver den bulgarske kortradition til sublime højder. De har udsendt flere kritikerroste plader, har givet stort anlagte koncerter og modtaget talrige Grammy-nomineringer. En journalist fra St. Louis Post Dispatch skrev slet og ret: “The most beautiful music on the planet.“
Bulgarian Voices Angelite er også kendte for at indgå samarbejder med andre markante kunstnere. De har således udsendt et rost album med strubesangerne i Huun Huur Tu, ligesom de har optrådt med vokalfænomenet Bobby McFerrin. Men at opleve koret i dets rene form, helt a capella og i et smukt kirkerum, er dog stadig en oplevelse helt for sig. Og absolut et must for alle med interesse for bulgarsk kortradition og smukke kvindevokaler.
Det bliver en enestående oplevelse at høre Bulgarian Voices i Christians Kirkes fantastiske rum. Med hele 20 mesterlige sangerinder til at lyse vintermørket op er der lagt op til gåsehud, og under Katya Barulovas ledelse kan man forvente stor vokalkunst med dybe folkelige rødder. Bulgarian Voices Angelite tager i øvrigt ofte bulgarske julemelodier på repertoiret op til højtiden, så skal du kun til én kirkekoncert i Julen, så bliver det ikke meget bedre.
